BATESCREW TURBINES
Angle Application

On a river  bank, this configuration presents the least
obstruction to river flow, causes less bank disturbance and requires less
infrastructure than would a vertical pump.
Convenient installation and retrieval from river-bank and water storages.

Pump axis is commonly inclined within the range of 15deg to 45deg from horizontal.  Pumps are usually installed on slide rails, as seen here, aiding installation and retrieval.

Discharge may be either above or below ground.  An extended drive column may be fitted, keeping power unit and thrust bearings above flood level.
